A publication that explores how meaning is attached to food through an East-Asian immigrant lens, by combining informative article and recipe book formats. The illustrations were mostly hand drawn using ink and wooden chopsticks, inspired by Japanese calligraphy.
These interactive web prototypes translate the contents from paper to screen to be more accessible.
The lino carvings from this project were reused to sell prints, exploring the untapped market of gifts showing appreciation towards our immigrant family and friends.
I recently sold these prints and the book at an art market to raise money for charity, as well as create a meaningful discussion about how food brings comfort.
